During her post-doctoral fellowship (Sept. 2022- Sept. 2024), Liv’s research investigated gendered forms of nonviolent resistance in the contemporary Israeli pro-democracy movement. Liv holds a BA & MA in international relations from the Geneva-based Graduate Institute of International Studies, a Master of Arts from the Boston-based Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and a Ph.D. from the Department of Conflict Resolution and Management at Ben Gurion University of the Negev. In 2023-2024, Liv co-taught a class entitled “History of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict” at NYU Tel Aviv and taught a course entitled “Introduction to nonviolent resistance, social and peace activism” at the Hebrew University. Starting in February 2025, Liv will teach a class at the Geneva Graduate Institute of International Studies.
In parallel to her academic path, Liv is a practioner with twenty years of experience in the field of conflict resolution, policy, human rights and humanitarian affairs with the Swiss Foreign Affairs, UNHCR, the ICRC and various NGOs, in Peru, Mozambique, Angola, Haiti, Colombia and Israel/Palestine. From April 2021 to June 2024, Liv was the Director of Research and Policy at ECF, a think tank committed to creating the conditions for a resumption of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. From October 2024, Liv will act as the Senior Advisor of PeaceWomen across the Globe, a feminist peacebuilding NGO based in Berne, Switzerland. Liv is also an active member of the Swiss Women in Peace Processes (SWIPP) professional network.
