Kerstin Tomiak currently holds a postdoctoral fellowship at The Leonard Davis Institute for International Relations and The Glocal International Development Program at the Hebrew University. Her primary research interests are statebuilding missions and interventions, and processes of knowledge production in difficult settings. Her PhD, which she gained from Cardiff University’s Department for International Relations in the United Kingdom, explores media development as part of statebuilding in South Sudan. She is currently writing a book on the topic. Her current studies also focus on perceptions of security and processes of knowledge production within a military intervention. Kerstin has been working extensively for NATO’s International Security Assistance Force and Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan, and for some non-governmental and governmental organisations in South Sudan.
